About the race

Join us on 16th May 2027

Be part of the first ever Women’s Run Series event at MediaCity, with 5K and 10K distances designed to welcome runners of all abilities.

Starting and finishing in the MediaCity Piazza, the route follows a 2.5K loop through the heart of MediaCity UK. Along the way, you’ll cross the Millennium Bridge, pass the Imperial War Museum North, and run alongside the ITV and BBC television studios.

The beginner-friendly course makes this a great choice for your first ever race, your next 10K challenge, or another memorable event to add to your running calendar.

The Women’s Run Series creates a safe and inclusive space for women to enjoy running together, supported by a female events team and a welcoming race-day atmosphere.

The course

Flat, lapped and fully marshalled

A flat 2.5K tarmac loop starting and finishing in the MediaCity Piazza. Each lap crosses the Millennium Bridge, passes the Imperial War Museum North and runs alongside the ITV and BBC studios. Two laps for the 5K, four for the 10K. The course is wheelchair and buggy accessible, and every kilometre is marked with distance flags and cheered on by marshals.

Getting there

MediaCity Piazza

By Metrolink

Public transport is the easiest way in. MediaCityUK and Harbour City Metrolink stops are a short walk from the Piazza.

By car

There is no event parking. The MediaCity and Lowry Outlet multi-storey car parks are nearby, but queues are likely on arrival so allow plenty of time.

On the day

Race day, step by step

Warm up & start

A group warm-up in the event village before the 10:00 start for both distances. Listen out for MC announcements for when to make your way to the start line on the Piazza.

Cut-off

There is no cut-off for this event. Last runners are expected home by around 11:45.

Bag drop

A secure bag-drop area in the event village. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number: tear it off, attach it to your bag and show your number to collect. Please bring as little as possible. Changing facilities are available in the event village.

Toilets & changing

Portable toilets in the event village. Because the course is lapped, you can also reach them during the race.

Water & refreshments

A water station passed on each lap, and water at the finish along with your post-race goodies and medal.

Results & photos

Results are live here immediately after the race, and photos land on the photos page the same day. Tag @womensrunseriesuk and we’ll share the best ones.

Race day etiquette. Be considerate and respectful to other runners, race staff and the public. Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants. If anything makes you feel uncomfortable, visit the information tent, find a team member in pink hi-vis, or email info@womensrunseries.co.uk.
Spectators

Bringing your support crew

Friends and family are welcome to come and support their runners and the Women’s Run Series however please bear in mind that this is an opportunity to provide a truly safe space for women to run.

We advise staying in the event village where you will be able to catch the start and finish.

FAQs

Good to know

Will my race bib be posted?
All race packs are collected within the event village on your chosen race day. Full details on how to collect your race pack are included in the event guide, emailed to you a week before the event.
Can I sign up on the day?
This depends on the capacity of the event and pre-race sign-ups. We advise entering online ahead of the event to avoid disappointment.
Will there be a bag drop?
Yes. There is an informal baggage drop area where you can leave belongings with our marshals during the race. Anything left is at your own risk, so keep valuables with you or leave them at home.
Can my friends and family come to watch?
Friends and family are welcome to come and support. Please bear in mind this is an opportunity to provide a truly safe space for women to run: the start and finish area is exclusive to participants and supporters are asked to use the spectator zones and meeting point.
Will we get medals?
Yes. Medals go to every participant at every event in the series regardless of finish time, and each event has its own unique medal design.
Will there be a water station?
There is a water station on each lap of the course. If you need additional fuelling we recommend bringing it with you.
Is there a cut-off time?
There is no cut-off time at any Women’s Run Series event. Runners and run-walkers of all abilities are welcome.
Is there an age limit?
The minimum age is 11 for the 5K, 15 for the 10K and 17 for the Half Marathon.
If I am unable to run, can I defer my entry?
Yes. If for any reason you cannot take part, whether through injury, pregnancy or anything else, email our team and we will happily defer your entry to a later date or transfer the place to a friend.
